Weighted
I’ve just got a new blanket which is helping me get to sleep more quickly. It’s weighted and goes on top of my duvet.
A weighted blanket applies ‘deep pressure’ and is supposed to have a calming effect. It also provides some resistance to my tics without being too restrictive. I know about them from working with autistic children who’ve had them.
One night, when I was trying to hold my legs down with a pillow full of books, I suddenly realised that one might help me.
Weighted blankets are expensive but I reckon they’re worth it because mine’s making it a lot easier for me to settle at night.
